Description
1966 Explorer — Vintage Motorcycle Boots : 60s Old-School Style Meets Modern Safety
A nowadays technology in old-school style boots.
We have mixed in these beautiful boots, the 1960 vintage style and materials technology of modern world motorcycle.
By crafting this motorcycle boot with a solid work shoe from the 60s, we created this boot, ideally suited to the hostility of the outdoor mode and its bad weather.
Whether you own a motorcycle or not, it is always useful equipment.
You will find reinforcements in the ankle and toe, ride in armor protected from the dangers of the road by motorcycle.
In addition, the outsole always allows excellent grip.
Why these vintage motorcycle boots stand out in 2026
Most vintage-style boots on the market in 2026 are either pure fashion items (no protection) or pure ATGATT gear (no style). The 1966 Explorer sits in between: hand-finished cowhide leather, Goodyear Welt construction (resoleable for life), ankle + toe re-enforcements that real bikers asked for, and an outsole that grips wet asphalt. Made in Portugal in small batches — not in a sweatshop — by craftsmen who still understand 60s boot construction.

Vintage boots FAQ
Q: Are these vintage motorcycle boots true to size?
A: Yes. Order your usual EU shoe size. If you wear thick wool socks for winter riding, go half a size up.
Q: Are the 1966 Explorer boots waterproof?
A: They are water-resistant thanks to the full-grain cowhide and Goodyear Welt construction. For full waterproofing, treat them with a beeswax leather balm on arrival.
Q: Can these boots be resoled?
A: Yes. Goodyear Welt construction allows a cobbler to replace the outsole multiple times without damaging the upper. Real boots, made to last decades.
Q: Do they offer real protection on a motorcycle?
A: They are heavy-duty work-boot construction with reinforced ankle and toe. Not CE-certified armor, but vastly safer than sneakers or fashion boots. Ideal for cruisers, choppers, and old-school riding.
Q: How do I break in vintage leather boots?
A: Wear them around the house with thick socks for 2-3 evenings, then apply leather conditioner. Allow 10-15 hours of total wear before long rides.
Care & maintenance
Clean with a damp cloth. Apply neutral leather balm every 3 months and after every wet ride. Do not dry near a heater — stuff with newspaper and let air-dry. Resole at your local cobbler when needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these vintage motorcycle boots safe for riding?
Yes. Despite the 1960s aesthetic, the 1966 Explorer boots feature reinforced ankle and toe protection, a Vibram non-slip sole, and full-grain cowhide that absorbs road shocks. They meet practical biker safety standards while keeping the engineer style.
How do I break in leather motorcycle boots?
For the first 2 weeks, wear them around the house for 30-60 minutes daily. Apply mink oil or neutral leather balm every 3-4 days. The full-grain cowhide will mold to your feet and develop a unique patina after 2-3 months of regular use.
What size should I order for vintage biker boots?
Order your usual EU shoe size. The 1966 Explorer fits true to size with a slightly snug heel that loosens after break-in. If you wear thick wool socks for riding, consider going half a size up.
How are these different from regular motorcycle boots?
Unlike modern racing boots, the 1966 Explorer keeps the silhouette of 1960s engineer work boots: low shaft, double leather strap, brass buckle. It is built for chopper, bobber and classic Harley riders who prioritize style and authentic patina over racetrack protection.
Do you ship vintage motorcycle boots worldwide?
Yes. Free EU shipping for orders over 100 EUR. Worldwide shipping available with tracking and 24-48h dispatch from our Marseille warehouse.
