Each pair is finished one by one with old-school sailor designs inspired by 19th-century naval iconography – ILLEGAL AS HELL stamped on the left thumb, FULL THROTTLE on the right. The cowhide is hand-patinated with beeswax for that signature rustic look, and every glove ages uniquely with each ride. Inset thumb for mobility, elasticated wrist, white rope cuff finish. THE SYMBOLISM OF HOLD FAST TATTOOS:

In the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, for sailors who crossed storms on seas and oceans, the expression “Hold Fast” had a notion of life or death.

On deck and in the midst of storms, when their ship was languishing in the waves, the strength to hold tightly to the helm was decisive for their lives: to weather the storm and survive or end up at the bottom of the ocean.

“Fast” was also the expression used by sailors to name a tight rope.

As a result, the words HOLD FAST are usually tattooed on the joints of the fingers, in order to remember that, whatever the trials to face, you have to hang on to survive!

Tattoo Leather Gloves: a Limited-Series Hold Fast 1340 Story

The Hold Fast 1340 White Waxed Tattoo Gloves are not just biker accessories — they are wearable old-school art. Each pair is hand-patinated in our Marseille atelier, the white cowhide treated with bee wax to create that vintage aged look that mainstream brands simply cannot replicate. The tattoos engraved on the leather echo the classic American 1940s designs: roses, daggers, swallows, anchors — the same iconography you see in Sailor Jerry flash sheets.

Why these tattoo gloves are different

Most so-called tattoo gloves on the market today use printed or screen-pressed designs that fade after a few months of riding. Hold Fast 1340 are different: the tattoos are laser-burned then hand-finished, so they age WITH the leather rather than disappearing. After 6-12 months of riding, the white wax breaks in just like a raw denim selvedge, and the tattoos darken naturally with the patina. Each pair becomes unique to its rider.

These gloves were designed to complete the Hold Fast prisoner pants outfit. Riders who buy them usually pair them with a 16oz prisoner denim pant, a 1966 Explorer leather boot, and an old-school deck jacket. The white-on-black contrast against denim is a signature biker look that goes back to the Easyriders era.

Limited series — not restocked

Each Hold Fast 1340 series is hand-made in batches of 30-50 pairs. Once sold out, the design is retired and replaced with a new tattoo theme. If your size is in stock, take it now. Restock takes 8-12 weeks and design will differ.
