These leather prison pants move the convict stripe onto a far tougher material. First, the pattern stays true to the prison wardrobe. Then, cowhide replaces denim and changes how the garment holds its shape. As a result, the silhouette gains real structure.

Why cowhide instead of denim

Denim wears through at the knees and frays quickly. However, full-grain cowhide takes abrasion without tearing. In addition, it blocks the wind, which cotton never does.

You will feel the weight: close to 1.4 kg. Nevertheless, that mass works for you as soon as the temperature drops.

Red and white, a deliberate break

Most models stay black and white. Here, red replaces black on every other band. Also, the belt and loops pick up the same tone.

The stripes are assembled panel by panel. Therefore, no print can fade or peel over time.

Build and finishing

Full lining

A lining covers the whole inside. So the leather never sticks to the skin. Notably in summer, pulling them on stays easy.

Stress points

The inseam and pockets get doubled stitching. Then, rivets lock the corners. Thus the hardest-working areas hold up over the years.

How to measure properly

The method takes four steps. First, lay a well-fitting pair flat, without creases. Second, measure the waistband edge to edge in centimetres: that is the flat width, not the full waist circumference.

Between two sizes, take the smaller one. Indeed, leather relaxes slightly after a few wears, whereas heavy denim gives way much more.

Caring for the leather

A dry cloth is enough day to day. Then, feed the grain with beeswax twice a year. Thus the colour stays deep and the hide supple.

However, avoid the washing machine and solvents. Indeed, they stiffen the leather for good.
